Inauguration Speech
Broad Street was a classic setting for a small-town elementary school in the 1960s. The square building with tall windows was surrounded by a paved playground, and nearby were swings and a slide and the constant sound of a jump rope snapping on the ground seemingly endlessly. My kindergarten class was taught by Miss Brundage.
